The whole pregnancy brain thing makes it hard
for me to sum up feelings in words, let alone typed out on a page. There
have been several accomplishments, along with a few failures throughout
the last week. Although it's difficult just to express how I'm feeling
to my husband, I feel the need to keep track of everything as the
pregnancy progresses.
I've felt, in greater detail, her move and kick on a regular basis this week. My husband and I have witnessed her respond to music, touch and food. We turned our laptop up with some Jimi Hendrix, and she started moving around right away, and didn't seem to like it when it went off. Daniel has woken her up by patting my stomach and yelling "wake up baby". And I have really felt her get moving after eating something, which I read last night, is quite common with a blast of energy.
Nothing too exciting really happened. I woke up Saturday and it was as though my right leg was dead. I hadn't slept on it funny, heck it was on top while I laid on my side. But when I went to place it on the floor for support getting out of the bed, it was lame. It took a few minutes of trying to get it to "start working" again.
Although I ran out and found two pairs of maternity jeans a few weeks ago, I've noticed I don't like the constricting feeling of having the elastic waistbands wrapped around my growing tummy. The pressure almost makes me feel nauseous, and relief comes once I take them off. I have never felt so good in a denim jumper, which I tried out this past Sunday, but I'm not quite big enough to wear it to work. I think I understand why my cousins always wore dresses throughout their pregnancies.
Food is starting to taste better now, and I'm beginning to experience waves of true hunger. Although my nutritionist confirmed I am exactly on track weight wise, and iron wise, I feel as though the past two weeks I haven't eaten as I should've. However, my What to Expect book, stated this was completely normal, and that by the 20th week you begin to feel your appetite returning. My husband has begun preparing eggs and toast for me, since eggs are an excellent source of protein, and I need to try to eat bread every day.
