This morning marks week 19 in a 40 week journey to motherhood. Before I got pregnant I never understood the significance of keeping track week by week during your pregnancy, or to mark times in your child's life. Now though, it's a different story, as I wake up each morning noticing the tiniest changes in my body and everyday activities. I know now that pregnancy is one of those unique experiences where you'll never fully understand what it's like until you're going through it.
Throughout the last few working days last week I just felt completely drained. We weren't doing a lot more day to day than we were used to, just two family dinners we didn't have to prepare. Although I wasn't doing any work, it was just exhausting sitting there and being part of the conversation. I felt bad by 9 o'clock both nights when I just simply couldn't handle it anymore, I wanted to go home, and I wanted to go to bed. It wasn't until this weekend that I realized why I was so tired.
I have tossed and turned each night for the past week, waking up my husband, stirring up the cats. It's definitely not purposeful, but out of discomfort. It scares me to think I'm not even halfway there yet and I'm already this uncomfortable. My weekly email notified me that leg pain and cramps are the biggest factor in losing sleep during this time of your pregnancy. And while I'm not experiencing that kind of discomfort yet, it's mostly a tightening and stretching of my stomach that's keeping me up at night. It feels different from round ligament pain, rather, just everything making room for our little baby to grow I suppose.
The rest of my baby activities have been pretty good. I completed one online registry for some baby items we desperately need (whether we're purchasing them or a family member). I have yet to distribute the sharing link, but I'm not ready for that yet. Not only have I determined what we need, I have also kept track of some really great deals on used baby clothes listed on eBay. Let me just say, I am not picky. Although I don't really want to find a used crib or car seat, I am definitely not against used clothing. Not by a long stretch.
Besides spotting a few great pint sized deals throughout the listings, I found a number of great FREE baby patterns. While I'm not big into frilly girl outfits, I did manage to a find baby bubble romper, upcycle newborn ruffle skirt, shirt onesie and cardigan onesie. I have held onto my old clothes (ones I haven't worn since we got married) and I'm hoping to put the fabric to good use for the baby. I asked one of my friends on money saving tips and mommy advice, and she was very big on how fast little ones outgrow their clothes. Hopefully I can save on clothing by reusing what I already have!
