Going Wireless

When I was younger I lived with a constant fear of growing up to have saggy breasts. Although I couldn't invest in the most expensive bras, I generally made sure they had underwire, if I wasn't wearing a sports bra during activities. I never went without, not even while I was sleeping. Current day, I'm rethinking this decision and hoping I can find some middle ground to keep Mastitis and clogged ducts at bay.

Any woman who has experienced a clogged duct understands it can be pretty uncomfortable, and those who have gone through Mastitis knows how horrible it is. Mastitis is the situation that happens when bacteria from your baby's mouth gets into your system through a cracked nipple. It doesn't take much to take over, a slightly lowered immune system is all it takes.

Once you have it, you need to act quickly to get the infection out of your body. Hot showers, compresses, hand expressing, pumping and ultimately block nursing (for all of you breast feeding ladies). You must watch for red blotches and hot spots on your breasts to watch the infection and see where it goes. Thankfully, I've never had it get beyond this but I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy.

Because of my experiences (yes it's happened more than once) I have done quite a bit of research on prevention. One of the best things you can do is to avoid underwire bras while nursing. It aids in the formation of clogs and leads to clogged ducts. One thing you may do, is to check out Zulily's daily deals on bras.
