Bee Stings and Essential Oils

"There's an Oil for That", may be a saying you're getting used to hearing by now. Young Living essential oils are growing more popular by the day, regardless of the fact that they have been around for 20 years. From bee stings to teething, you can bet there's a product to ease your pain. And today I've got a personal testimony to share!

Over Labor Day weekend my family and I made a trip to Illinois to spend time with extended family. We had a large meal and spent a good amount of time tossing a ball in the yard while barefoot. And, as you'd expect, It wasn't long before someone came running back into the house, complaining of a sting on their foot. My 13 year old sister had been stung by some type of bee or wasp, and her foot was beginning to swell quickly. The redness was spreading and the pain was becoming quite unbearable.

Only having had my kit for a week or two, I quickly retrieved my everyday oil assortment and applied a few blends and one single oil, neat, onto the affected area. In order, I applied Purification, Lavender, Thieves and Panaway. She felt an immediate pain relief and sense of calming, from the lavender I assume. The next day, amazingly, she was running about like nothing had happened.

Purification is said to have cleansing properties, often used to eliminate odors from households caused by pets and everyday life. It's a blend of Citronella, Lemongrass, Rosemary, Melaleuca, Lavandin, and Myrtle. This oil also makes the perfect bug repellent, but also features some more common uses as well.

Lavender is most often used to create a calming environment. It may be applied topically, aromatically and as a dietary supplement to ease burns, cuts, stings, bites, and most anything that effects the skin. This product might aid in putting your little ones to bed.

Thieves oil is a special blend of Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus and Rosemary, most widely known for it's immune system support. It can be applied to the skin, diluted or neat. Thieves has a very pleasing scent, which makes it an easy product to apply topically.

Panaway is the final blend in my natural bee sting concoction, which should be kept away out of reach of small hands. You should avoid using it on small children and infants, due to the fact that it contains Wintergreen. It may be used to help ease muscle pain while being soothing to the skin.

Each of these oils may be found on the Young Living web site, and you may also read more testimonials through a Google search.
