Not too long ago, I wrote about a marvelous maternity clothing find, a store known as ASOS based in the UK. They offer free shipping and free return shipping, as well as mid-high priced clothes, and a great clearance selection. Personally, I've found their dresses to be of the best deals, and I finally received the one I ordered last week. I thought maybe a review was in order, so here is my ASOS Maternity Dress Review.
Because it is based in the United Kingdom, you must make sure to select the United States (assuming that's where you're located) in the upper right corner. This changes the currency and sizes, so pay attention! Finding a dress and checkout was very easy, too. Note that the free shipping selection takes about 6 days - but it is required to hop the pond to get to you! Everything they sell seems to be of their own brand, and I'll get to that in a moment.
My least favorite part of the transaction was their package tracking - which is understandable. It doesn't update everyday, and when it does it's towards evening. It shipped USPS, and with their new policy to close operations on Saturdays, shipping took a few more days than expected. But it was okay, I survived, and I'm glad I was patient. The packaging was tiny! I thought for sure they had sent me the wrong item. When I opened it though, I was pleasantly surprised to find it sealed air tight and safely folded in half to protect it from the rain - I was very very pleased with this.
When I pulled out my new dress the flowy fabric bounced to life in a really gorgeous mint green. I know it's still "winter", but here in the south 50 degrees while pregnant warrants a spring dress. The stitching and quality of the dress seem to be higher than anything I'd buy in America for the same price (I know it isn't made here). It was a little wrinkled from the transit, but I'm sure it will steam right out.
Then I tried it on... and I have to say I couldn't believe how perfect it fit me in the shoulders - which is usually my biggest problems (I have wider shoulders). The little sheer cap sleeve fell perfectly over the edge of my shoulder, and the keyhole was cute without being immodest. The overall length of the dress fell just above the knee - a hard find in the maternity world I've found. In general, the dress offered way more than I'd expect from an $18 purchase.
In all, I am completely surprised and thrilled to have bought from ASOS. This British company delivered on many levels, and it was unexpected - I'm already deciding what to wear next! So, if you're looking to find some deals on maternity dresses, make sure to visit the maternity section of ASOS, and don't be too shocked at the cute deals you'll find.
